Whether you were a member of the original UK Polling Report site or have joined since, this is the place to introduce yourself.
For those who were on the original polling site, while not compulsory, it may be helpful to let other users know if you are now using a different username.
Over to you...

Hi I've been lurking on UKPR since 2015 and have spent the last year after registering trying to get my first post through moderation but AW so rarely visited that it's never been cleared. So I'm not making that mistake again and have registered here immediately. Hope to engage with you all as we progress.

Should still come through as Alec. You better get over to the economy thread and get started with Trev and his crew. You know you want to.

Hi Nick, Hope this replies to you. (Still getting to grips with how to do this stuff) I'm neither. I'm a left of centre 68 year old politics and polling obsessive who's been wary of venturing onto mainly male dominated boards but regret never getting onto UKPR. I hope to be polite though direct in my interactions and my policy will be to ignore impolite posts (fingers crossed I stick to that!)

Shevii on UKPR- Shevii on here!
My wish list for the new forum would be one thread for politics as it worked fine with one thread on UKPR, maybe have other threads for things that interested people on the old boards like gardening and space. Also hoping people won't use the quote option to just have a ton of a previous post quoted.
Now to see if my red admiral eating a blackberry avatar works...

An avatar with an innocent babyface seemed inappropriate, so have I managed to replace it?

And good to see Dacre has decided not to apply for the Ofcom job.

Hi I've been lurking on UKPR since 2015 and have spent the last year after registering trying to get my first post through moderation but AW so rarely visited that it's never been cleared. I wondered whether UKPR was missing out on new people joining for that reason of first post needing to be approved. Welcome anyway and hopefully a few more who have wanted to join can join the new forum.

I'm also a long time lurker on Anthony's site- unable to register. Missing the original site already & the often erudite (& sometimes irritable) discussion so want to give this a go. Hi all

Thanks Shevii. It was indeed frustrating when members expressed concern about the lack of new posters. I hope I'm not alone and we get an influx of new posters.

I mostly lurked on the old site but occasionally chipped in. I'm an ex-London local government senior officer with an interest in politics. Now back in my native Scotland. Delighted to see a new place established as I rely on UK Polling Report for both opinion and fact (useful discussions on subjects like heating systems!).
Tomorrow my Father and Mother in Law arrive from England to move in with us. He has diverted his mail and I am already getting his weekly Spectator so we may have a version of UK polling report in our house!

Greetings earthlings, and hello Barbara and Louise! And thanks Mark for setting up this group.
Even though I post only rarely, and saw this coming long ago, it would be such a shame to lose the community many of us have visited regularly for ten to fifteen years. It'll also be fun to meet others who have lurked for heaven knows how long.
I'm on a Munsters forum on Facebook, their only rule is "if the Munsters wouldn't say it, neither do you". My hope is we can continue to rub along in the spirit of Anthony's place.
I signed up to CMJs discord group as well, hopefully we can decide between ourselves which venue works best and continue to play nicely.

Hi, back as peterbell. I used my own name when originally posting on UKPR, but in recent years used the moniker “geordie” on the infrequent occasions I posted.

Shevii "Also hoping people won't use the quote option to just have a ton of a previous post quoted."
Can still highlight the relevant bit as we are used to doing. Just don't click Quote, do a highlight, copy and paste!

@ Robert
I think it is still nice to use the quote function as it is clear which bit is a quote but good to trim down the quote to the relevant bit otherwise is becomes cluttered- on Vote UK it is sometimes hard to follow because someone has quoted a whole post and then the next person replies and quotes the whole of the second post including the original quote! You only need 4 of those and you're through half a page...

shevii & Robert Agreed. Our old practice is better than how cluttered Vote UK can get.
