A little known verse of the Ball o' Kirriemuir - "Four and twenty virgins, Met the Earl of Inverness, And when he didn't meet them, There were four and twenty less" To be grammatically correct it should be 'Four and twenty fewer'.

I don’t know the answer to this one ,were the rules that applied to meeting people on the 20th of March 2020 against the law and a criminal offence or were they under the heading of goverment guidance which was not a criminal offence. And is the garden of number 10 a public outdoor space or private. I was only wondering as I understand the Met were looking into what happened. And it was around that time government advice was changing.
Having watch parts of the Johnson at PMQ’s I was struck by whenever you hear those words you must apologise in the media or from opposition parties and a apology is given ,its never accepted or it’s the wrong apology . That doesn’t just apply to politicians but to almost everybody who has done something wrong makes the effort to say sorry, but it’s never good enough if they happen to be in the the public eye. The other thing that struck me is how much Starmers fortunes are tied into Johnson, every advancement Labour have made is due solely to what Johnson does and even then Starmers personal ratings are still way behind his party and barely above Johnson’s who let’s face it hasn’t had the best of press lately.
Still on the up side just a few more months of Boris ,although you can never write him off, then hopefully the Tories will begin the selection of either Sunak or Truss either one will won’t have much trouble with the leader of the opposition.

I've been out all afternoon at a tea dance and was frustrated at missing all the excitement. I was wondering if we should play the prediction game? Who knows better than me how to do this? Should we give a date or number of weeks or days before Johnson resigns or is defenestrated. Any offers?

Makes no sense to me if the Randy old Earl didn’t actually meet them.

Colin's reached across the aisle to Turk, I see.
In a strictly non-tribal way of course. That sort of silliness isn't for them.

tancred 'well, there is breaking and entering and there is burglary. Both are crimes, the latter being more serious because it adds theft to the former' “Actually you do not need to steal anything to commit burglary, all they need is to enter as a trespasser with intent to steal, amongst other things.” Can you get away with “I just wanted to compare their decor to ours m’lud as we are looking to change the look of our place?”

mandolinist - "I cannot believe that my rather innocent name choice has resulted in this fantastical flight of invention. Can I borrow (steal) it?" How dare you accuse me of invention! Next you'll be accusing me of making things up!! Of course - use it as you will, but do please credit any extracts: 'Mandolins, Sausages and Extreme Violence - An Alternative History of Italy' by A. R. Seitch, 2021, published by Hodder & Staunton,London. Part of the Alternative History of the World series, currently being adapted for the BBC. In reality mandolinista were Czech nationals who emptied their parliament in 1618. Was that by throwing them out of the window?

No. We sometimes get biscuits (not today) but as it's only £4.00 for two hours they feel they can get away with just tea ( or coffee).

All we need is Frank Muir coming back to life and rambling on about tadpoles for five minutes and we'll be quorate.

@old Nat According to Wikipedia, there are many versions of this song which was loosely based on a real event, A version which might be more pleasing to Crofty and provide a welcome distractiron to the ROC on this board went as follows:
Four and twenty virgins,
Cam doon frae Inverness,
And when the ball was over,
There were four and twenty less.
There was screwin' in the parlour,
An' screwin' on the stones,
Ye couldnae hear the music,
For the wheezin' and the groans.
And when the ball was over,
The opinion was expressed,
The music was exquisite, but
The screwin' was the best.

I think 250 wins a prize. But then you’ve got to double it, which is v tiring.

William Wragg, vice Chair of the 1922 committee executive is now calling for Johnson to resign.
Barbara, I think close of play tomorrow is possible if the rest of the grey suits concur.
