Watched an investigative program on AI and AI generated political messages - basically doctored video clips. In a trial giving these videos to an audience who were not aware that they were fakes, channel 4 succeeded in swapping votes over from Labour to Tory and vice versa, The success rate was 100% in half the cases and just under 100% in the other half.
It was frightening in that it looked as if it was something that a tech competent political activist could do in his bedroom. But is it that simple?
On a board such as this with many people either in FE or something similar, I wonder if there is anyone who could watch the program and let us know how real it is.
Its C4 and the title is as I have headlined.

I did try to look at this on my PC (wife's watching something else on telly) but they wanted loads of personal details - name, address, age and so on supposedly to check that I'm old enough to watch their programmes. As they're free to air broadcasts this seems ludicrous so I didn't bother. I will try to watch it some time though, it sounds interesting - and worrying.
"I wonder if there is anyone who could watch the program and let us know how real it is."
Are you saying that the programme itself was some kind of spoof? Whether it was or not it's concerning. I remember posting on this site as soon as AI became freely available that it would soon be impossible to trust anything at all on the internet.

The program was an investigation of how effective AI doctored video clips could be in changing people's views, and for that reason the members of the public involved werent told they were viewing doctored videos until they had done the second round of voting and the program could see how their votes had been affected.
C4 were clever in that the way they doctored the videos werent the sort of obvious nonsense some hard left 14 year old might produce. They were subtle, they gave good background like " sunak forgot to take off his hidden radio mike and this is what he said to his staff member as he was walking to the car ( cue picture of Sunak walking to a car talking to someone). The Starmer one was full face saying something and the lips were 100% synchronised with the false script, voice the same. To this they added a personality ( cant remember his name but think Bamber Gascoine) respected for intelligence doing support videos for Sunak and then Starmer
AI is freely available apparently.

Thanks, but I still can't watch it. Although I switched my VPN off it was blocked because Ch 4 seem to think I'm in a foreign country. I might see if I can find it on one of those catch-up channels like iplayer.

(The NSFW in front of Youtube in the URL takes you to a more lightweight, less bloated front end for Youtube and works with all YT vids).

MarkYes. I got this message even though I switched my VPN off and I am in England. "This video contains content from Channel 4, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds"
