The "The 'Immediate Reaction' or 'politicians in public' thread", for want of a better name (an if someone does come up with what I consider a better name, I will rename it) is for discussion on programmes such as Question Time (BBC1, Thursdays), Any Questions (Radio 4, Fridays), the occasional one issue debate programmes that Channel 4 does, that sort of thing.
It is for discussion on both the reaction of members of the public participating, and how well or badly panellists, whether politicians or otherwise, did.
A more instant barometer than polling...or not? That is up for discussion as well, for example, on last night's Question Time, one of the panellists was a union leader, the first time in eons that a union man was on the panel, whereas in previous years it was more weeks than not - in a week where a question on P&O was certain to be asked.
Thoughts welcome....

I always think that they are like other TV coverage in that the subject is never given remotely enough time to cover the level of detail required and so becomes simplistic and superficial. The result is increasing cynicism about government.

Thoughts welcome.... The trouble with Question Time (or Any Questions) is that the BBC sees them as entertainment; the political equivalent of 'Strictly Come Dancing'; rather than education. Lord Reith is probably spinning in his grave.
